How do you manage patients who fail to show up?

A new US study shows patients are more likely to miss doctor appointments on Mondays, in winter, and if they are young and female.

About one in five patients fail to turn up to scheduled appointments, according to an analysis of 12 years of administrative data from one primary care clinic and nine specialist clinics in Texas.

Research on missed GP appointments in Australia is scarce, but UK figures suggest the rate of non-attendance in general practice is about 7%.
