Fitter people tend to have trimmer waists, even if they are technically obese, according to an international study of over 10,000 people.

The Danish researchers found that, in spite of BMI, high fitness levels lead to a reduction in abdominal fat mass and low-grade inflammation.

This suggests it is possible for obese people to be metabolically healthy if they exercise regularly and keep their waist measurement in check.
