How a mum, Dr Google and a GP solved a 20-year diagnostic mystery

Sometimes Dr Google, and mums, do know best, as one GP discovered when diagnosing a rare condition in a patient. 

The patient presented to ED with swollen upper lip and facial swelling.

It took 20 years from the first symptoms to a diagnosis of hereditary angioedema for a 28-year-old woman (pictured), who was eventually aided by her mother’s internet search and a GP willing to explore her findings, according to a BMJ Case
