How to slow down cellular ageing
Any kind of exercise is better than none, but it’s high-intensity interval training that’s been deemed best for reversing age-related changes at the cellular level.
A study published in Cell Metabolism has found that short bursts of intense aerobic activity, interspersed with longer stretches of moderate exercise, helps cells rebuild key organelles that deteriorate with ageing.
This works for people of all ages but it is older people who benefit most, say the authors.
Their study enrolled 36 men and 36 women from two age groups — young volunteers who were 18-30 years old
