How to spot missed business opportunities

Pharmacies have jumped on a new program aimed at helping them boost revenue from health services.

The Health Advice Plus Program was rolled out last September to help pharmacists identify missed health services opportunities.

So far nearly 500 pharmacies have undergone the analysis with 100 now implementing programs in their pharmacies with the help of specialist pharmacy coaches, the Pharmacy Guild says.

One participant is pharmacist John Black, proprietor of McDonalds Pharmacy in Casino, NSW. He says he needed help to make the transition to professional services.

“We all know that most pharmacists are very busy with their day-to-day tasks and I knew that our pharmacy did not have the resources to begin the transition process.”

After participating in the program, the pharmacy now has a stronger focus on dose administration aids, flu vaccinations and is introducing staged supply.
