HRT linked to ovarian cancer risk

Women should be advised to use hormone replacement therapy for the shortest possible time due to new concerns it is linked with ovarian cancer risk, say Oxford University researchers.

Although unlikely to change clinical practice, the Lancet  report shows that women who use HRT for just a few years are about 40% more likely to develop ovarian cancer than those who have never taken the hormone therapy.

“For women who take HRT for five years from around age 50,
