Hunt unveils aged care rebate boost in mini-budget

From 1 March, GPs will see an effective increase in rebates when making aged care visits

The era of diminishing Medicare rebates for aged care attendances will soon be officially over, with the unveiling of a new $55 callout fee for all GP visits to a nursing home.

The Federal Government has used the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO), a mini-budget that comes every December, to announce it will spend $98 million over the next four years on boosting the Medicare funding for GPs to make aged care visits.
