Ignorance over breast cancer risk

A Newspoll survey, released to coincide with Pink Ribbon Day last week, showed a high proportion of women mistakenly believe that factors such as the use of underarm antiperspirant deodorant and the consumption of additives in food contribute more to breast cancer risk than lack of exercise, being overweight and alcohol consumption.

Three quarters did not identify regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol consumption as key factors that can reduce their risk of breast cancer.
