Imaging could kill off traditional autopsy

It's been part of medicine since the ancient Egyptians, but the traditional autopsy could soon be supplanted by the more palatable alternative of medical imaging, an Australian expert says.

Professor Chris Semsarian said CT and MRI were proving as accurate as conventional post-mortems for determining some causes of death, and could provide a new option for families who declined autopsy for religious, cultural or personal reasons.
