Implant alerts when seizure on way

An experimental brain implant that can warn epilepsy patients of an impending seizure has been hailed as a "major milestone" in the management of the condition.

Reporting Thursday in the Lancet Neurology, Australian experts have shown for the first time that a portable device can accurately predict seizure risk in real-world patients.

The device, pioneered at Melbourne's St Vincent's Hospital, uses electrodes implanted between the brain and skull to constantly monitor
