Independents pressure govt to expand bowel cancer screening

The three MPs held a joint press conference this morning to back Cancer Council Australia’s pre-budget call for the addition of Australians aged 60 and 70 to the program, estimated to cost about $15 million each year.

The latest campaign to raise awareness of the need for screening also sees the Cancer Council asking people to wear badges featuring a ‘B’ logo as a reminder that the condition kills more Australians every year than any other form of the disease other than lung cancer.
