Indigenous 5-year-old girl diagnosed with type 2 diabetes

The girl presented in August last year to a diabetes outreach appointment where her mother mentioned she was concerned about non-healing sores on her thighs. The girl was above the 95th centile for weight, and two random blood glucose level tests showed concentrations of 19.2mmol/L and 18.7mmol/L. The sores were diagnosed as impetigo.
