Indigenous health governance ‘bewildering’

In fact the Lowitja Institute’s report Legally Invisible, published last month, says while just three of 69 commonwealth health Acts mention Indigenous Australians, none addresses the much needed aspect of “governance and stewardship for [Indigenous] healthcare”.

And, none of the roughly 250 principal Acts across the commonwealth, state and territory health portfolios “create[s] a legislative structure to secure stewardship and governance for the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
