Is intermittent fasting more effective?

Whether intermittent fasting is more effective for losing weight than daily calorie restriction has been the subject of much debate recently among the scientific community.

Now, a team of US researchers say they have the answer.

In a randomised clinical trial conducted between October 2011 and January 2015, they put the two weight-loss methods to the test and concluded that neither can claim the winning spot.

Comparing no intervention with the fasting diet (eating 25% of calorie needs on fast days, and 125% on alternating 'feast' days) — and also to a daily calorie restriction (75% of calorie
