International evidence backs pharmacist vax programs

Pharmacist administered vaccination services could help meet the Federal Government’s goal of boosting immunisation uptake, Australian health care academics believe.

In a review of the case for pharmacist administered vaccinations in Australia the academics said “suboptimal uptake of vaccinations” in Australia was “a universal concern”, and that countries where pharmacists had been given vaccination rights had seen increased uptake of immunisation services.
