Internship shortage hits 25% of graduates
Another year, another warning that there are not enough internship places for medical school graduates.
The Australian Medical Students’ Association says a quarter of medical school graduates are not guaranteed an internship in Australia this year, and will have to seek a placement overseas.
The shortage affects international students, who make up a quarter of the cohort of medical graduates, but are treated as second-class doctors according to AMSA.
