The rate of children’s development is fairly predictable, and children who fall outside certain boundaries of ‘normal development’ need further assessment with a view to provision of a management strategy to optimise their development.

This is a common problem seen in general practice, with between 1% and 3% of our population (that is, 3000—9000 children in Australia per year) being impacted.
Borderline challenges
