Invisible Zinc forced to drop ‘nano free’ marketing
THE TGA has moved to counter suggestions that nanoparticles in sunscreen may be harmful, ordering a manufacturer to drop promotional material referring to a “nano free” product.
The TGA argues that promotions of Invisible Zinc sunscreen as “not nano” and “nano free” could imply sunscreens containing nanoparticles were unsafe.
The sunscreen, promoted by Elle Macpherson, is depicted as free from nano-grade zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which some researchers have suggested may pose health risks.
