Key changes to immunisation guidelines
Here we cover key changes in the 10th edition of the Australian Immunisation Handbook.
- New MMRV (MMR and varicella) vaccine to be given as the second dose of measles-containing vaccine at 18 months, available from July. Not recommended as the first dose of measles-containing vaccine in children under four. Can be given in the primary care setting to children with egg allergy, including prior anaphylaxis.
- Single dose of herpes zoster vaccine recommended for adults 60 and above. However, vaccine availability in Australia is limited.HPV vaccine
