Knowledge reduces high-dose statin prescribing

Approximately 9500 GPs participated in the Managing Lipids program, with survey findings presented at the National Medicines Symposium in Brisbane last week, indicating that, post-intervention, a greater proportion of GPs chose a lower dose statin for primary prevention in a high-risk case study. This was matched with longer-term changes in reduced prescribing of high-dose statins.
