Lack of antibiotics cited in asylum seeker death

An asylum seeker on Manus Island died of progressive cellulitis after doctors exhausted all antibiotic options and an emergency medical evacuation request was delayed by red tape, leaked documents suggest.

The Iranian asylum seeker Hamid Kehazaei, 24, had worsening cellulitis and an abscess that did not respond to the limited range of antibiotics available at the Manus Island detention camp, according to official records that appear to be from the private medical contractor, International Health and Medical Services (IHMS).
