Hormonal intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants remain highly effective one year beyond their use-by date, a study shows.

The researchers say their findings are significant because extended use of the long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) will reduce cost and improve convenience for women who can now feel confident about delaying removal and reinsertion.
