Legionnaires prompts decontamination in Adelaide CBD

Director of public health Dr Kevin Buckett said while a common source for the three cases had not been identified, the business owners involved had been encouraged to take preventative measures.

In all three cases the people reported attending the east end of Adelaide's CBD during the incubation period.

SA Health is working with Adelaide City Council to investigate further.

"Legionella bacteria are commonly found in the environment, but can grow to dangerous levels during periods of high then low temperatures, when cooling towers are operated intermittently," Dr Buckett said.
