Lemon detox voted worst fad diet
The Lemon Detox Diet was deemed the worst by a survey of Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) members, followed by the Acid Alkaline Diet and the Six Weeks to OMG Diet.
Dietitian Melanie McGrice from the DAA said the Lemon Detox Diet was rated the worst because it was essentially a starvation diet, involving drinking only lemon-based drinks for up to two weeks.
"It's really cutting out all of your core food groups," Ms McGrice said.
She said the Acid Alkaline Diet and the Six Weeks to OMG Diet peddled misinformation to sell their regimens to consumers.
The Six Weeks to OMG diet, created by personal trainer Paul Khanna, suggests skipping breakfast every morning before exercising and claims broccoli is as bad as soft drinks, Ms McGrice said.
