Liability fears over 'fit to exercise' certificates
Mounting requests for ‘fit to exercise’ certificates have led to accusations gyms are shifting liability onto doctors for training-related mishaps.
The practice has raised concerns GPs could be left liable for exercise-related injuries, over an often unspecified time frame.
Although the requests are now commonplace, concerns have been raised to Australian Doctor about the vagueness of the wording on the paperwork.
Some gyms are said to provide very little information about the programs doctors are being asked to sign off
