Link between coffee and bladder cancer confirmed
A review of data from 40 studies over the past 30 years has confirmed a long-suspected association between bladder cancer and coffee consumption.
The meta-analysis of over 15,000 cases of bladder cancer and 250,000 controls found a 33% increase in the risk of the disease among coffee drinkers.
Researchers from Huazhong University in Hubei, China, say the association is dose-dependent, with an increase of one cup of coffee per day adding a 3% to 5% to the risk of bladder cancer.
