Link between sudden death and mitral valve prolapse
The heart condition may raise risk of sudden cardiac death

Mitral valve prolapse may increase the likelihood of sudden cardiac death, at least for some patients, an Australian study suggests.

The systematic review and meta-analysis, led by Professor Prashanthan Sanders of the Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, determined some key statistics about the condition.
The prevalence of mitral valve prolapse in the community was 1.2%, the researchers determined using a meta-analysis of seven studies, including more
