ENDOMETRIOSIS is an enigmatic disease that is defined by ectopic endometrium which most commonly affects the pelvic organs.
The disease can occur in more distant sites outside the pelvis but this is rare.
The most common symptoms for endometriosis are worsening and severe dysmenorrhoea, dyspareunia deep in the pelvis, infertility, ovulation pain, pain in the bowel and bladder during menstruation, and chronic pelvic pain.
Some patients with significant endometriosis may be relatively asymptomatic.
