Location rules under attack

A self-titled ‘social democratic’ blogger has lashed out at pharmacy location rules as they come under discussion in the Senate.

In a recent blog,  Professor John Quiggin, an economist at the University of Queensland, says “the Pharmacy Guild has managed to restrict competition so successfully that it’s impossible to open a pharmacy if it might hurt the profitability of an existing business, even if that business is failing to serve a significant group of customers”.
