Long-term antifungals okay for chronic thrush

Women can use long-term oral antifungals to safely and effectively treat chronic unremitting vulvovaginal candidiasis, Australian research shows. 

In a retrospective case study of 208 women attending a dermo-gynaecology clinic, dermatologists at the University of Sydney found that all women with chronic vulvovaginal candidiasis showed clinical improvement after an initial course of 12 weeks’ treatment with 50-100mg oral fluconazole daily.
