Low-level drinking harm in pregnancy not clear

Obstetric drug information consultant and pharmacist Ronald Batagol said the NHMRC should “provide greater reassurance to women who have consumed low levels of alcohol during pregnancy”.

Not only is there little evidence of harm from low-level drinking, Mr Batagol wrote, but obstetric organisations in the US and Canada have “expressed concern about the potential for unwarranted terminations being contemplated by women following low-level alcohol use”.
