Many consumers unaware of NSAID risks: survey

Consumers are placing themselves at increased risk of experiencing adverse events from use of OTC non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) due to their low level of awareness of the dangers, a researcher says.

Dr Judy Mullan, senior lecturer at the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Wollongong said survey results indicated dangerously low levels of consumer awareness of the potential for severe adverse medicine events from NSAID use.
