Marriage bodes well for cancer patients

Being married may help prolong survival in cancer patients, according to new research that shows singletons have higher death rates.

The 12-year study of nearly 800,000 adults diagnosed with invasive cancer found that unmarried men are 27% more likely to die of the disease than those who are married.

Single women with cancer have a 19% higher risk of death than their married counterparts.
