Measles outbreak in Brisbane, six people diagnosed
Metro North Public Health Unit has issued a health alert for people who visited the North Lakes Aquatic Centre on 16 May, a car show at the Rocklea Showgrounds on 9 May, and the Mercure Hotel at North Quay on 8 and 10 May.
The alert has also been issued for spectators at the Nitro Circus event at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 15 May."
Dr Madhu Chatterji said two infectious people also visited the Redcliffe Hospital on 11 and 21 May.
"There is no known link to any other identified case of measles," Dr Chatterji said.
"Public Health is ensuring that infection control measures are in place and will continue with contact tracing to limit further spread of the disease."
In March 2014 the World Health Organization declared Australia measles-free. Although there have been outbreaks in several states in recent months, the WHO defines measles elimination as occurring when documentation shows interruption of endemic measles
