Med students cook own goose – police called

The alleged incident occurred last Tuesday in Blackall, near Longreach, where the medical students were on placement with a private general practitioner.

The placement was an arrangement between UQ and the private medical practice, operated by the Blackall Hospital medical superintendent. 

The students were staying in hospital accommodation at the time of the incident. A complaint was made to the Central West Hospital and Health Service, which referred the matter to the Queensland police.

A police spokesperson told MO an investigation into the alleged incident found that no criminal offence had occurred.
In a statement, UQ academic registrar Maureen Bowen said the students’ placement at Blackall had been terminated and that any university investigations would take place after police inquiries had run their course.
