Medical TOP still unfamiliar to some

SOME GPs are still unaware of the availability of medical abortion in Australia, a major provider says.

Dr Philip Goldstone, national medical director of Marie Stopes International Australia, was due to tell the Family Planning NSW conference last weekend that a clear majority of women choosing medical termination at Marie Stopes clinics were satisfied with the experience.

However, medical abortion remained “unfamiliar territory” to some doctors, he said, as some Marie Stopes clients reported their GPs had thought medical abortion was not currently available.
