Medicare freeze lift imminent

The Medicare rebate freeze for doctors will reportedly start to be lifted for some GP visits from July.

The Australian Financial Review reports the federal government will further extend the lifting of the rebate freeze to specialists and medical procedures over the next three years.

Details will be revealed under a new health package to be unveiled in next week's budget, but it's understood the government will begin a staggered return to linking some rebates to inflation from July. - AAP
