Pharmacy still provides most opioid services

The vast majority of opioid pharmacotherapy dosing points in Australia are in community pharmacies, according to Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) statistics.

On a snapshot day in 2013, over 47,000 clients received pharmacotherapy treatment for their opioid dependence at 2,355 dosing points around Australia, an AIHW report reveals. Of the 2355 dosing points, 2078 (88.2%) were located in pharmacies.
