Questions raised over Digoxin safety

The long-used atrial fibrillation treatment, Digoxin, may be linked with increased risk of death in patients with newly diagnosed AF, US researchers say.

As reported in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, among a cohort of 122,000 newly-diagnosed AF patients, use of digoxin was associated with a 26% increased risk of mortality  

The risk of death was not modified by age, sex, heart failure, kidney function, or concomitant use of beta
