Tired GPs prescribe more antibiotics
The likelihood of GPs prescribing antibiotics increases during each clinic session, say US researchers.
A study of 21,867 visits to 204 clinicians found that antibiotic prescribing increased throughout the morning and afternoon sessions. Relative to the first hour of each session, antibiotic prescribing rose by 5% during the second hour, 14% in the third hour and 26% in the fourth hour.
