Mind-body approach supported for chronic low back pain

Meditation and yoga offer as much benefit for patients with chronic low back pain as more traditional therapies such as NSAIDs, a US trial suggests.

Patients who practised mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy for eight weeks showed clinically meaningful reductions in low back pain and disability that persisted for a year, according to trial findings published in JAMA.
