Minister says sorry after hospital dumps miscarried fetus
WEST Australian Health Minister Dr Kim Hames has apologised to a Perth couple after Swan District Hospital staff disposed of their miscarried fetus without consulting them.
The couple say their distress was compounded after the Anzac Day miscarriage when they learned the 18-week-old fetus had been thrown out with medical waste.
They said hospital staff had told them the fetus would be sent to King Edward Memorial Hospital for an autopsy to try to determine the cause of the miscarriage.
