ML loses funds as event cancelled

MO understands Metro North Brisbane Medicare Local (MNBML) paid a deposit of up to $20,000 to Redcliffe-based XPR Events prior to the 24 March information day.

But less than a week before the event was to go ahead, XPR was placed in liquidation amid allegations of inappropriate business among its directors, according to court documents obtained by MO.

An MNBML spokesperson would not confirm how much was paid to XPR but said “we’re obviously keen to resolve our business with XPR… and will be pursuing the options available to us”.

The ML spokesperson added: “These options may include legal action to recover fees paid to XPR Events before we were advised they had entered into  receivership.

“We are still gathering the relevant information.”

MO’s calls to XPR for comment were not returned by time of press.
