More questions about Redcliffe project

THE federal government pledged an additional $5 million to the operators of the Redcliffe GP super clinic even after a former director of the clinic project, the head of Storm Financial, Ron Jelich, led that company to one of Australia’s largest corporate collapses, MO can reveal.

The federal government’s second $5 million grant to Redcliffe, during the 2010 election campaign, came a full 17 months after Storm spectacularly folded with $3 billion in investor losses. 

Storm Financial Limited collapsed in January 2009 and Mr Jelich has since quit the board of the Redcliffe Hospital Foundation (RHF), which won the super clinic tender.

There is no suggestion of a direct link between the government and Storm.

The project is set to come under fresh scrutiny with Queensland Health Minister Geoff Wilson referring the project’s management troubles, reported in last week’s Medical Observer, to the state’s Crime and
