More reason to take folic acid

A daily dose of folic acid before conception significantly reduces the risk of infants being small for gestational age (SGA) at birth, according to a large population based study.

It is well established that folic acid supplementation reduces the risk of neural tube defects but new data from the UK suggests it may also have a positive effect on birth weight, as long as it’s taken pre-conceptually.
Results show that the overall proportion of babies with
