Morwell fire highlights pharmacists’ asthma role

Patients with asthma in Morwell, Victoria, are being encouraged to visit their local pharmacy for support, as a fire at the nearby coal-mine covers the town in smoke.

The Asthma Foundation of Victoria announced that free reliever puffers and spacers were being distributed to patients affected by the blaze - which has been burning for more than three weeks - through six pharmacies in the town.

The emergency measure was launched yesterday, in partnership with the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Bird Healthcare and GSK.
