MRI misses one in six prostate cancer diagnoses

Claims that MRI scans will dramatically curb the number of prostate biopsies have been thrown into doubt by research showing that the technology misses one in six high-grade cancers.

Findings presented at the American Urological Association's annual meeting in New Orleans shows multiparametiric MRI (mp-MRI) misses 16% of high-grade cancers (Gleason score >7) in men with elevated PSA levels.
