Mt Isa super clinic finally gets green light with new operator
THE Federal Government has finally found a healthcare company to run the long-delayed Mount Isa GP super clinic.
WA-based company Kinetic Health, which provides general practice and occupational health services in several states, has signed up to establish and run the clinic.
The announcement comes a year after the Government doubled the amount of funding on offer for the super clinic – from $2.5 million to $5 million.
The Mount Isa GP super clinic has faced a series of set-backs. GP division North & West Queensland Primary Health Care originally agreed to take on the project, but ran into major difficulties in its attempts to secure land or premises to house the clinic within the allocated $2.5 million budget.
After the division failed to negotiate extra funding from the Government, it withdrew from the project.
