The key reform concepts remain: primary and hospital care are best organised and managed at a community level; primary care clinicians should work together for the good of their community; primary and hospital sectors should work in an integrated way; general practice is a key element of primary care; and the outcome should be better patient care from a patient perspective.
Our assets in this 2013 election year are that Medicare Locals are up and running, giving communities and clinicians a means of organising healthcare that meets their needs.
