Naturopath banned for inappropriate touching

A NSW naturopath who touched a patient’s breasts and asked inappropriate questions about her sexual activity has been prohibited from providing health services for three years.

The patient complained to the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission, which investigated the incident and found that naturopath Robert Jarvis had breached the Code of Conduct for Unregistered Health Practitioners.

The commission concluded its investigation last week and found Mr Jarvis had breached the code by “asking inappropriate questions regarding the patient’s sexual activity, touching the patient’s breasts [and] failing to ensure
that he had any indemnity insurance arrangements in place in relation to his practice”.

The prohibition order also specified that, at the conclusion of the three-year prohibition period, and before providing any health service, Mr Jarvis must satisfy the commission that he will abide by the Code of
